FeQ3 coordination onto the magnetic silica amine modified for partial alcohol oxidation

The oxidation of alcohols to carbonyl compounds or their perfect oxidation is one of the main reactions in organic chemistry that it has attracted enormous interest for the development of environmentally benignant processes, production of new materials and energy sources [1,2]. On the other hand, sustainability of an organic reaction depends on the substrates, solvent and even workup method for the preparation. Thus, in the process of oxidation of organic molecules, most efforts have been devoted to the development of the use of green solvents and oxidants such as H2O2 that only produce water as meaningless [3]. Here, we tried to use of Fe3O4@SiO2-FeQ3 as catalyst in the aqueous oxidation of alcohols with high selectivity towards corresponding ketones (Fig. 1). Recyclable Fe3O4@SiO2-FeQ3 indicated excellent performance with high selectivity for various benzylic alcohols in the presence of H2O2 at ambient temperature, so that Fe3O4@SiO2-FeQ3 was reused eight times without significant decrease in activity.
