Sono-synthesis of Cu-Fe-LDH nanosorbent: preparation, characterization, and its application for removal of organic dye from aqueous solution

Among different wastewater pollutants, organic dyes are recognized as considerable contaminants that can result in serious health hazards even at low concentrations. Layered double hydroxides have been usual in recent years for dye removal. Because they are low cost and Easily prepared. The Cu-Fe layered double hydroxides (CuFe-LDHs) composites were prepared via ultrasonic bath method for the first time. In this study, CuFe-LDH was employed to degrade Alizarin yellow‌ (AZ) with concentration 20 mg‌/‌L through an adsorption process with 80% efficiency degrade within 30 minutes. The crystalline phases and crystal structures of CuFe-LDH were examined by X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, and LDH characterized by Brunauer–emmett–teller‌(BET), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), Field emission scanning electron microscope(FESEM). The UV-visible analysis was used to determine the amount of adsorption. The nano adsorbent can be easily separated from the reaction mixture by filtration and reused several times. Therefore, this work provides a facile and effective method for the preparation of Cu-Fe-LDH nanosorbent.
