On the other hand, MOFs are new advanced porous crystalline complexes, which consist of various metal ion/clusters and organic ligands. They have unique structures possessing large porosity, high surface area and structural tailorability [1], that make them have great potential in different applications, particularly in liquid-phase adsorptive separation, water purification, environmental remediation [1]. Controllable conjunction of semiconductors with metal organic frameworks (MOFs) has been an efficient tool to enhance the chemical and physical properties of semiconductors by forming semiconductor– MOF hybrid structures.In particular, ZIF-8 is a most widely used MOFs, due to its low cost, easily synthesis, high chemical and thermal stability and large surface area (~1600 m2 g−1) [2].
Materials combining the abilities of adsorption and photocatalysis provide a facile solution for pollutant disposal as secondary remediation processes are avoided. Herein, we report a simple strategy for the development of C3N5 anchored ZIF-8 microcrystals as sheathed architectures for the highly efficient adsorption and UV light induced photocatalytic degradation of Quercetin from solutions. Herein, a novel MOFs-derived strategy to fabricate C3N5/ZIF-8 hybrid photocatalysts via the micro-catalysis technique by using ZIF-8 as a precursor and C3N5 as a catalyst is reported. The as-prepared C3N5/ZIF-8 hybrid photocatalyst was characterized by XRD, SEM, TEM, EDX, BET and other techniques. The photocatalytic results indicated that C3N5/ZIF-8 hybrid material exhibit excellent simultaneously adsorption and photocatalytic properties. The bifunctional composite thus developed offer a photo-regenerable adsorbent for the effective removal of an emerging hazardous contaminant.
