The Integrative Chemistry of Polyoxometalates and Metal-Organic Frameworks: A Catalytic Approach

چکیده مقاله:
The chemistry of polyoxometalates (POMs), a classic category of inorganic materials known since 1800s, has been widely studied for catalysis, medicine and many others [1-4]. POMs are considered as polynuclear oxo-bridged early transition metal compounds of MOx polyhedrals, where M is generally W, Mo, V, Nb or Ta at its highest oxidation number. A major problem in using POMs in catalytic systems is their poor recovery and reusability due to their high solubility, low specific area, and low stability under operating conditions. To overcome these drawbacks, supports such as mesoporous silica, polymers, covalent organic frameworks (COFs) and metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have been used to anchor POMs.
MOFs are a new class of hybrid materials that are assembled from well-defined molecular clusters (secondary building units) linked by multi-topic organic ligands to create a networked structure with rigid pores [5]. The fundamental role of “integrative chemistry” in coupling molecular chemistry to advanced materials science has resulted in a range of brand new opportunities and applications. This work summarizes recent progress in POM/MOF materials with emphasize on catalytic applications [6].
