Synthesis and Characterization of a New Nano-sized ZnFe2O4 Composite

Today, use of nano particles for much application such as medicine, technology and industrial are very usual. Nanocomposites are composites in which at least one of the phases shows dimensions in the nanometer range. Nanocomposite materials have emerged as suitable alternatives to overcome limitations of microcomposites and monolithic, while posing preparation challenges related to the control of elemental composition and stoichiometry in the nanocluster phase. In the present work, a new nan-sized ZnFe2O4 was synthesized with a rapid sol-gel method by using Zn(NO3)2 , 4H2O and FeCl3, 6H2O, and characterized its structure by some common spectroscopic techniques, such as X-ray powder diffraction analysis (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), UV-Vis and FT-IR spectroscopy [1].
The XRD pattern of ZnFe2O4 has shown that the sharp crystalline peaks indicating the crystalline phase in composite. By Scherrer’s formula, the average size of the nano-sizes of the complex was calculated >100 nm, that confirmed by SEM image [2].

The EDS and SEM images of ZnFe2O4 were shown in Figures 1 and 2.
