A novel graphene porphyrin- MOF nanocomposite: As efficient materials for potential targeted anticancer drug delivery

Abstract: A new hybrid nanocomposite Cu-TCPP MOF supported on graphene oxide (GO) base were developed via a simple green solvothermal method, at which GO was used as platform to be load on by nanosheets of Cu-TCPP MOF. Characterization of the sample was done by X-ray diffraction (XRD), UV-vis spectroscopy, field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), EDX, BET, Raman, TEM and FT-IR techniques. The XRD measurement shows highly crystalline structures for the prepared hybrid nanocomposite. Morphological analyses also carried out by SEM and TEM which confirms successful growth of Cu-TCPP MOF over the carbon-based platforms.The BET analysis shows that the surface area of Cu–TCPP MOF composite over GO decreased compared to Cu–TCPP MOF composite itself. Therefore, GO platforms surface was covered by the Cu–TCPP MOF crystal nanosheets. The synthesized material exhibited high porosity, making it excellent candidate for targeted drug delivery systems. The Doxorubicin (DOX) was chosen as the model drug molecule which was adsorbed into inner pores of MOFs and graphene surface. The composite Cu–TCPP MOF/GO showed high drug loading and sustained release behavior under physiological environment without “burst effect”.
