Hydroisomerization of n-heptane over Pt/HMS + zeolite bimodal catalysts promoted with various metals

In the present study, the Pt (0.6 wt.%) catalysts supported on the bimodal composite materials consisting of HMS and zeolite (HZSM-5) were used for hydroisomerization of the n-heptane hydrocarbon. Observation was given to the method by which the HMS and HZSM-5 (40 wt% concentration) were combined by adding the zeolite to HMS synthesis gel and then the precursor of metal oxides as Zr, W, Mo and Cr added to this support. The experiments of hydroisomerization of n-heptane were carried out using a fixed bed flow reactor system at 200 °C. It was found that the promotion of the supports with Zr and Mo resulted in a formation of high isomerization products, because a moderate acidity was done in this catalyst. This catalyst exhibited high activity (50.9%) than other supported catalysts. The Pt/Zr-Mo-HMS + HZSM-5 catalyst displaying the highest isomerization selectivity with the highest contribution of monobranched isomers and appropriate multibranched isomer selectivity.
