The synthesis and characterization of porous 4A-HMS-supported Pt catalysts and its catalytic activity for n-heptane cracking

Herein, a successful attempt for the micro/mesooporous hierarchical 4A/HMS used Sol-gel method was reported. The experimental result showed that the micro/mesooporous of hierarchical 4A-HMS could be clearly and easily create. This micropores-mesoporous hierarchical 4A-HMS was analyzed by a series of characterization techniques, such as XRD and N2 adsorption-desorption (BET and BJH), and so on. The characterization results indicated the presence of micropores and the formation of mesoporous in the structure. The activity test of the preparedness catalyst had good catalytic performance. The calcined composite was tested as a catalyst for cracking of n-heptane, using a fixed bed reactor at 200-350 °C and hydrogen gas. The catalytic tests showed that the Pt/4A-HMS composite catalyst has the potential for use for producing fuels, because of very low cracking products. This catalyst has good n-heptane conversion (46.1%) and very low cracking selectivity (7.5%), achieving the highest yield (1.6%) among all temperatures. This low cracking production is the desired property.
